Job summary

EMCOR Services Aircond is seeking a Plumber Mechanic Helper to assist a Plumbing Mechanic with materials, tool handling, and maintaining a safe, clean work area at commercial and light industrial sites.

Responsibilities include measuring, cutting pipes, rough-ins and supporting layout, installation and maintenance of piping for water, ammonia, gas and other systems. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of trade/technical school or other apprenticeship programs preferred.
• Minimum of one–three years prior work experience as a plumber’s helper in commercial or light industrial settings is necessary.
• Ability to use power tools and equipment commonly used in the construction trade in a safe manner is required.
• Must possess basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut and assemble new pipe, placing the assembled pipe as directed.
• Cut or drill holes in walls or floors to accommodate the passage of pipe.
• Perform rough-ins, repair and replace fixtures and water heaters; locate, repair or remove leaking or broken pipe.
• Assist plumber in layout, assembly and installation of piping for air, ammonia, gas and water systems.
• Fit or assist in fitting valves, couplings or assemblies to tanks, pumps or systems using hand tools.
• Mount brackets hangers on walls and ceilings to hold pipes.
• Set sleeves and inserts to provide supports for pipes.
• Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
• Immerse pipe in chemical solution to remove dirt, oil and scale.
• Clean work areas, tools and/or equipment.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed.
