Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY seeks a Plumber A to perform maintenance, installation, and repair of piping, plumbing, and tubing systems within the Production Division’s Plumbing Shop. Under minimal supervision, reads drawings and maintains water and gas distribution systems, including fire protection components.

Responsibilities include brazing/soldering, installing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance while complying with safety, PPE, and DOE/IBEW requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Backflow Tester Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of commercial/industrial plumbing systems and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, and repair piping, plumbing, and tubing systems.
• Read drawings and sketches; braze, solder, cement, and thread piping.
• Inspect and service fire protection and hazardous material systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate with project managers.
• Ensure safety, proper PPE use, and compliance with lab rules.
