Job summary

Amsted Rail is seeking an experienced skilled trade worker to install, assemble, fabricate, service, and repair mechanical piping systems across critical plant utilities.

You will read blueprints, lay out pipe runs, and operate hand tools and crane equipment, contributing to uptime and safe operations in hot, dirty, and noisy environments. Requires high school diploma and a valid driver's license, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry preferred.
• Willingness to work overtime and adapt to varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, fabricate, service, and repair mechanical piping systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine materials, routing, and installation strategies.
• Lay out, cut, and fabricate runs of pipe with valves, traps, regulators, and related components.
• Maintain and repair valves, regulators, and traps across diverse applications.
• Support critical utilities: boilers, high-pressure hydraulic systems, and related piping.
• Decide whether removed equipment should be salvaged or scrapped based on condition and risk.
• Partner with other maintenance crafts to solve problems quickly and safely.
