Job description

Position Title: Industrial Medical Assistant-Paramedic for an Occupational Health Clinic

  • 100% Onsite
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday, Hourly, Hours: 7-430 (M-Th) 7-330 Friday
  • Start Date: Immediate need

Duration: 6 months - 1 year contract renewal, based on performance

Objective

The Industrial Medical Assistant - Paramedic plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and high-quality provision of occupational health services within the onsite medical clinic. Responsibilities include supporting advanced clinicians with triage of injuries and incidents, conducting surveillance examinations, assisting with assessments, performing drug and alcohol testing, and fulfilling additional clinical duties as required. This position functions under the supervision of clinic leadership and medical personnel, complies with state regulations, and reports directly to the clinic supervisor for daily operational oversight.

Qualifications
  • Must be certified or completed Paramedic and must be able to practice within the state where they are employed.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a Paramedic is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Current audiometric and pulmonary function certification is desirable.
  • Current BLS and AED Certification required
  • Yearly Bloodborne Pathogen training required and will be provided
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Preferred Qualifications (not Required)
  • CAOHC- Certified Occupational Hearing Conservation
  • NIOSH Spirometry Certification
  • Emergency Medical Responder Course with RIPS
Clinical Functions
  • Utilize and follow the Protocols
  • Seek out assistance when needed or in doubt.
  • Demonstrates ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Safely conduct health screenings, pre-placement exams, ongoing surveillance, expatriate assessments, and other examinations in line with Health & Medical MEP guidelines.
  • Performs routine laboratory work, blood draw (venipunctures) as per examination requirements and/or direct orders of lead clinician.
  • Calibrates audiometric and spirometry equipment and maintains records as outlined by CAOHC, NIOSH, and OSHA recommendations and regulations.
  • Performs audiometric, pulmonary, vision and EKG as required.
  • Respond to medical emergencies in the plant as needed
  • Clinic coverage when clinician out of office
  • Record and maintain records of refrigerator/freezer temperatures twice daily.
  • Purchase and maintain travel kits and Emergency Response Team “Go-Bags”
  • Administers vaccinations to business travelers and expatriates/families as directed by clinicians.
  • Maintain medication, equipment, and medical supplies
  • Cleaning and restocking examination rooms
  • Ensure cabinets and clinic office is locked at the end of the workday.
  • Follow BBP guidelines for cleaning of clinic at the end of the workday or if spill occurs.
  • Attend Gulf Coast Safety Council (GCSC) courses pertaining to Oak Point annually.
Administrative Functions
  • Manage front desk, incoming calls, and scheduling.
  • Run Medical Surveillance Reports and facilitate employee notifications
  • Prepare exam questionnaires, check for completeness, and upload and chart in EMR.
  • Assist with filing and maintaining medical records according to company record retention and laws.
  • Document visits in medical record as required by protocol and by law.
  • Assist with answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Support Health & Medical Wellness programs and events for site.
  • Provide requested Yes/No responses to monthly Absence Improvement Plan (AIP) Report list of employee absences with/without medical documentation sent by HR Dept.
  • Provide case management support to clinicians on return-to-work, Fitness-For-Duty, injury & illnesses.
