Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Painter to perform a wide range of painting tasks under limited supervision across laboratories and facilities. Responsibilities include preparing surfaces, applying coatings, and ensuring safety and quality in every job.

The role requires at least five years of painting experience in commercial or industrial settings, with knowledge of surface preparation, coatings, and application methods.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED.
• A minimum of five years of painting experience in commercial or industrial setting.
• Completion of a formal training program is preferred.
• Knowledge of various paint application methods (brush, roll, spray).
• Ability to calculate materials needed and read work orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform all types of painting, priming, and removal on interior/exterior rooms, equipment, buildings, and surfaces.
• Use brushing, rolling, and spraying to apply epoxies, floor coatings, and caulking.
• Stripe parking lots and road surfaces; fireproof wood and barriers.
• Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, patching, pressure washing, and degreasing.
• Hang drywall and finish sheetrock; install decals and vinyl frosting.
• Select appropriate finishes after evaluating surface conditions and paint plans.
• Calculate materials needed from surface measurements and work orders.
• Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.
• Adhere to Safe Conduct of Research and company core values.
