Job summary

FLSmidth in Charleston, WV seeks a Painter to support painting and blasting operations for heavy industry projects. You will organize equipment use, maintain spray painting gear, and ensure surfaces meet specifications.

Cross-training for related tasks is encouraged. Ideal candidates have 2 years’ experience with coatings, prep work, and blasting, plus knowledge of Mil thickness and epoxy finishes, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience preferred
  • Experience with coatings, prep work, and blasting methods
  • Experience with multi-part epoxies preferred
  • Must have working knowledge of Mil thickness, finish requirements
  • NACE experience is a plus
  • Must follow written or verbal instructions
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements including hazards and PPE
  • Computer skills: time tracking

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and plans the use of painting and blasting equipment and materials for the various projects
  • Ensures that the blasting and painting equipment is properly maintained and in a ready state of operation
  • Operates spray painting equipment with brushes and rolls to paint the surface
  • Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish using abrasive-blasting equipment
  • Examines and measures finished surfaces to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position

Your Responsibilities

What You Bring
