Job summary

FLSmidth in Charleston, WV is seeking a Painter to organize painting and blasting operations, maintain equipment, and apply coatings using spray equipment and brushes. The role requires inspecting finished surfaces, maintaining a clean workspace, and willingness to cross-train for other tasks.

Applicants should have knowledge of Mil thickness and finish specs, safety protocols, and experience with coatings and epoxy systems. Healthcare options and retire­ment benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience preferred.
• Experience with coatings, prep work, and blasting methods.
• Experience with multi-part epoxies preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of Mil thickness, finish requirements, etc.
• NACE experience is a plus.
• Must have knowledge of health and safety requirements including fire hazards, compressed gases, electrical, chemical, and mechanical devices.
• Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions.
• Computer skills: ability to use the computer for time tracking purposes.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and plans the use of painting and blasting equipment and materials for the various projects
• Ensures that the blasting and painting equipment is properly maintained and in a ready state of operation
• Operates spray painting equipment with brushes and rolls to paint the surface
• Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish using abrasive-blasting equipment
• Examines and measures finished surfaces to ensure conformance to specifications
• Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
• Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position
