Job summary

Dearing Compressor & Pump Co is seeking a manufacturing painter to spray paint surfaces of machines and products. The role involves preparing areas, selecting coatings, mixing colors, and operating spray equipment with a focus on quality finishes.

Applicants should have 1-year certificate or related experience, 1 year operating industrial paint equipment, and 2-5 years in manufacturing. Flexibility for overtime is required, and reading a tape measure is important.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Spray paint surfaces of machines and products using conventional or airless sprayers.
• Attach slings to move parts with a forklift and position for painting.
• Clean grease and dirt from products and surfaces.
• Apply masking tape to protect areas not to be coated.
• Mix coating liquids to achieve desired color and consistency.
• Operate spray equipment, adjusting valves and nozzle width/pressure.
• Finish coats and touch up hard-to-reach areas with brushes.
• Clean painting equipment and solvents after use.
• Remove rust using wire wheel or brush.
• Perform weekly inventories of supplies and paint.

Summary
Spray paint surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material such as paint, epoxy, or polyurethane with conventional or airless sprayers and performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Attaches slings to pipes or other parts to move with a forklift into positions or onto stands for painting
• Cleans grease and dirt from product
• Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color
• Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose
• Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
• Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat
• Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush
• Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent
• Removes rust from metal with powered wire wheel or wire brush
• Perform weekly inventories on supplies and paint

Qualificaions And Requirements

• One year certificate from college or technical school or related experience and training preferred
• 1 year experience operating industrial paint equipment
• 2-5 year’s experience working in an manufacturing or industrial environment
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule and overtime
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure
• Must be able to work as a team
• Ability to pass a drug test
