Job summary

Dearing Compressor & Pump is seeking a spray painter to prepare and finish surfaces on machines and components at our Youngstown facility. You will spray protective or decorative coatings using conventional or airless sprayers and ensure even coverage according to specifications.

In this role you will move parts with a forklift, mask off areas, mix coatings, regulate spray, and clean equipment. A background in manufacturing with experience handling paints and safety practices is preferred;

Qualifications

• One year certificate or related training preferred.
• 1 year experience operating industrial paint equipment.
• 2-5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Flexible schedule and overtime availability.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Team collaboration and safety compliance.
• Ability to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Paint surfaces on machines and parts using spray equipment.
• Attach slings and move parts with forklift for positioning.
• Mask off areas to protect surfaces.
• Mix coating liquids to achieve desired color.
• Operate spray gun and regulate spray width and pressure.
• Clean equipment and brushes after use.
• Maintain weekly inventory of paints and supplies.

Summary

Spray paint surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material such as paint, epoxy, or polyurethane with conventional or airless sprayers and performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Attaches slings to pipes or other parts to move with a forklift into positions or onto stands for painting.
• Cleans grease and dirt from product.
• Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
• Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose.
• Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
• Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
• Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush.
• Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
• Removes rust from metal with powered wire wheel or wire brush.
• Performs weekly inventories on supplies and paint.
