Job summary

Harris American is seeking an industrial painter for outdoor work with large steel equipment. The role emphasizes surface prep, precise painting, and flawless finish to satisfy picky customers. You will perform sandblasting, packaging for shipping, and operate a forklift for loading. Outdoor conditions and PPE use are required.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of industrial painting experience, forklift training, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Job description

We are a Westside manufacturing company looking for a talented and reliable industrial painter. Our equipment is large and primarily made of steel, so the perfect candidate will have experience painting steel and producing clean paint jobs suitable for picky customers. Because of electrical and hydraulic components, there is a lot of taping, blocking, and other surface prep. The position also requires sandblasting and packaging for shipping. Everything is outdoors.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint, rust, and contaminants through sanding, scraping, and chemical treatments.
• Mix and apply paints, varnishes, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring even and consistent coverage.
• Understand and follow safety protocols and best practices for painting in an industrial environment.
• Inspect and assess the quality of completed work, making adjustments as necessary to meet quality standards.
• Maintain painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are in working condition and properly cleaned.
• Collaborate with other team members and departments to complete projects on time and within specifications.
• Packaging and preparing equipment or parts for shipment
• Loading large loads onto truck beds via forklift

• Trained in Forklift Operation
• Two (2) years' previous industrial painting experience
• Familiarity with packaging, strapping, and material handling
• Excellent organizational and planning skills

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand for long periods
• Able to sit for long periods
• Able to climb ladders/truck beds/steps
• Able to Crawl, crouch, kneel and stoop to paint, to paint, tape, or package equipment
• Able to withstand outdoor temps for extended periods while wearing PPE
• Able to wear a respirator for extended periods while painting/sandblasting
• Able to lift 75 lbs.
• Able to manipulate controls, nozzles, and other required tools
• Able to reach at/above/below shoulder level
• Possess far and near visual acuity for paint accuracy as well as peripheral vision for safety
• Able to hear loud noises such as alarms for safety
