Job summary

Stellantis’ Design Office in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a skilled fabricator to interface with engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams on fabrication tasks involving interior and exterior components. You will develop bucks/armatures from CAD data, work with surface plates, and ensure show-quality finishes on both new and prototype vehicles.

Role requires welding experience, use of shop machinery, and the ability to work both independently and with others in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED.
• 5+ years of experience using shop/mill room stationary machinery (Table saw, Joiner, Planer, Drill Press, Bridgeport, Press Brake, Shear, Lathe).
• Prior welding experience (steel and aluminum).
• Ability to work with hand tools (drill motor, jig saw, reciprocating saw, circular saw, die grinder, orbital sander).
• Strong skills in automotive surfacing and paint application.
• Ability to work both individually and as a team member in a creative and diverse environment.
• Participate in additional training and process improvements.
• Willingness to be mentored and mentor others.
• Participate in scheduled overtime.
• Positive attitude towards change in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of understanding working from prints and CAD models.
• Ability to work with precision while maintaining craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Interface with engineers, designers, and cross-functional team members on fabrication tasks.
• Develop interior and exterior bucks/armatures from CAD data and surface plate grids.
• Prepare and surface hard models/parts for show finishes and paint.
• Adapt new and aftermarket parts to existing or prototype vehicles and processes.

This opening is an assignment within the Design OfficeFabrication Shoplocated at the Stellantis Headquarters located in Auburn Hills, Michigan.Itinvolvesinterfacingwithmultipledisciplines,i.e.,engineers, designers,and cross-function team members while participating in allfabricationrelatedactivities and assignments.

Such activities include but are not limited to developinginterior and exteriorbucks/armaturesaccording toelectronic CAD data,on a surface platewith a fullunderstandingof thex, y and zgrid system.The ability toexecutestructural carpentry,prepping andsurfacing hard models and parts(new, aftermarket and prototype)for show quality paints and other finishes.Adapting newandaftermarket parts to existing / prototype vehicles. An understanding of auto mechanics.A fullskill setfortheapplication of paints and other show finishes.
