Job summary

4C2 Industrial is seeking a Journeyman Millwright in Texas to install and maintain machinery per blueprints and drawings. Reading schematics, aligning machines, and using hoists/power tools are core duties.

You will work outdoors/in elevated spaces, requiring safety awareness, the ability to lift, and willingness to overtime. A high school diploma or GED and 3 years millwright experience are preferred.

• Ability to read flat drawings or pictures and interpret them as solid objects.
• Ability to communicate clearly with employees and customers.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.

• Valid driver’s license or government ID required.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, schematics and drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and hand tools.
• Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Construct foundations for machines using wood, cement and steel.
• Align machines using hoists, jacks, hand tools, micrometers and plumb.
• Grind and file machinery parts on-site or in controlled settings.
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment and machinery safely.

The Journeyman Millwright installs and maintains machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawing specifications.

About The Role

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following Essential Duties satisfactorily.

• Reads and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery; determining work procedures
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
• Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools
• Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials; such as wood, cement, and steel
• Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb
• Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances
• May repair and lubricate machines and equipment
• Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential duties
• Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Exposure to varying outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations
• Work at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single story and multi-story buildings
• Standing work (frequently) on a level, uneven, indoor, outdoor, elevated, confined spaces surface various tools and equipment to dismantle machinery and equipment using various hand and power tools
• Workers must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction) and coordinate the movements of their eyes, arms, hands and fingers fully
• Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities

Safety Sensitive

This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position as it requires the ability to concentrate for long periods of time while: operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles. This work will often be done with and around hazardous materials at elevated heights and confined spaces. A lapse of attention on the job could result in injury, illness, or death.

Skills & Competencies

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• 3 years millwright experience or relevant field
• Work within precise standards of accuracy
• Rate information using standards which can be measured or checked
• Should be able to look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects
• All employees must provide and maintain the required tool inventory for this position
• Ability to communicate clearly with employees and customers
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-work
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays
• A current valid driver’s license or government issued ID is required
