Job summary

Comfort Systems USA, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic in Kalispell, MT to support mechanical service and retrofit work.

You will perform sheet metal modifications/installation and piping tasks including valve replacements, gasket work, flange preparation, and torqueing, while adhering to LOTO procedures. The role requires reading drawings and specs, maintaining safety, and collaborating with foremen on active job sites.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in active job environments.
• Must be able to travel to construction sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modifications and installation to support equipment and duct interfaces.
• Replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces and ensure proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Perform chiller valve replacements; support isolation, removal, reassembly and checks.
• Install flanged couplings and hardware; torque to specification with proper tools.
• Execute Lockout/Tagout and verify zero-energy state per procedure.
• Read project drawings, specs and work orders to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area; use PPE and follow site safety rules.
• Communicate status and material needs to supervisor; document completed work.
• Use torque wrenches and standard hand/power tools correctly.
• Assist troubleshooting and basic mechanical tasks; escalate as needed.
