Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services seeks a Mechanic II to disassemble, test, and repair natural gas engine and compressor equipment. You’ll read engineering prints, use precision measuring tools, and set up test runs to verify specifications before shipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 0–2 years of related experience, and the ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production demands. Valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Comfortable interpreting drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.
• Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, and stay active through a full shift.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production requires.
• A team player who can also run independently against engineering specs, with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, reassemble, and test moderate to highly complex natural gas engine and compressor equipment.
• Clean, inspect, and repair components using manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
• Read detailed prints and engineering specs, and use micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators to verify work.
• Set up and run test operations to confirm equipment meets spec before it ships.
• Conduct risk assessments before operations and material movements.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Keep your work area safe, clean, and organized, and follow all EHS policies and regulations.
