Job summary

Action Environmental is seeking a Mechanic to service and repair equipment at multiple Alabama locations, including Sylacauga. You must have your own hand tools and be comfortable working independently or in a team.

The role involves repairing earth moving equipment, diesel engines, small engines, and trucks, with extensive on-the-job training to meet safety requirements. Flexibility for long hours and travel as needed is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year\'s work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required.
• Experience with personal computers and basic typing skills.
• Experience with TMT system a plus but not required (we will train).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to and from work.
• Reliable phone to respond quickly when on call.

Responsibilities

• Plans and performs repairs using correct tools, procedures, and diagnostic measures.
• Orders and return parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner maintaining accurate entries into our maintenance software and tracking systems.
• Performs the following tasks on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustments
• Performs Preventive Maintenance service according to factory guidelines
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
• Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures
• Works independently in the field as required
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Interacts with Operations Personnel to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT)
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Additional duties as assigned
