Job summary

Gerdau is seeking an Industrial Mechanic - Central Maintenance in Petersburg, VA to troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain equipment across our steel production facility. The role focuses on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.

Candidate should have 3+ years in heavy industry maintenance, be able to read blueprints, and have welding/fabrication skills. We offer strong benefits, stability, and opportunities for growth within a leading steel

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience in heavy industry (steel, mining, or similar).
• Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics; welding and fabrication skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment across the facility.
• Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
• Operate mobile and heavy equipment safely.
• Maintain cranes and material handling gear.
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance activities.

Industrial Mechanic - Central Maintenance

$106,000 - $116,000 per year (including hourly pay of $33.63 hr to $36.73 hr, biweekly production bonus, shift premiums, and 354 hrs of scheduled annual overtime)

Schedule

• Rotating 12-hour Dupont schedule, d ays, nights, and two weekends a month
• Built-in extended time off throughout the year

What You'll Do

As an Industrial Mechanic, you'll troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain equipment throughout our steel manufacturing facility.

You'll work on:

• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment
• Mobile and heavy equipment
• Cranes and material handling equipment
• Industrial mechanical systems
• Welding and fabrication repairs
• Preventive and predictive maintenance activities

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of maintenance experience in one of the following:
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Steel, mining, aggregate, cement, paper, power generation, or similar heavy industry
  • Mechanical maintenance
  • Pumps, motors, and gearboxes
  • Preventive maintenance programs
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Rigging
  • Reading blueprints and schematics

• Industrial manufacturing environment
