Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Manchester, Iowa, is seeking an on-site Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer Co-op for Summer/Fall 2027. You will work with industrial engineers, operators, and manufacturing support to resolve flow, quality, ergonomic, and safety issues in advanced manufacturing.

You will learn to design fixtures, diagnose manufacturing defects, and operate laser machines and 3D printers. This role builds foundational engineering skills in a real aerospace environment with a strong emphasis on

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major through the completion of the co-op session.
• Completion of at least 60 credit hours prior to the start of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience with SolidWorks modeling is preferred.
• Experience with VBA or other scripting languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and operators to resolve flow, quality, ergonomic, and safety issues.
• Design or improve fixtures and tooling; build, verify, and implement them.
• Identify root causes of defects and process inhibitors; implement corrective actions.
• Program and operate laser machines, 3D printers and other equipment to develop fixtures.

This position is for an on-site Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer Co-op who will join the Manufacturing support team at the Collins Aerospace Manchester, Iowa facility for the Summer/Fall 2027 session.

What You Will Do:

• Work alongside Industrial Engineers, production-floor operators, and manufacturing support staff to resolve product flow, quality, ergonomic, and safety issues associated with advanced manufacturing techniques.
• Develop or improve designs for fixtures or tooling to support manufacturing processes, as well as build, verify, and implement those fixtures.
• Identify root causes of manufacturing defects and process inhibitors, and implement effective corrective measures.
• Program and operate laser machines, 3D printers, and other manufacturing equipment to develop fixtures.
• Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Salary range: 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
