Job summary

BlueScope Coated Products, a leading coil coating company in the United States, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair production equipment. You will develop maintenance programs to ensure reliability, lead cost optimization, and maximize equipment availability while reducing unsafe conditions.

The role requires 3+ years in industrial maintenance, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to read blueprints and manuals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical degree/certifications preferred.
• 3+ years in an industrial maintenance position.
• Mechanical capability to repair and analyze production equipment.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, overhead crane and rigging principles.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, manuals and assembly directions.
• Proficient communication skills - ability to explain complex mechanical issues.
• Must perform physically demanding work (climbing, lifting, standing).
• Reliability, dependability and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and replace mechanical components in manufacturing equipment.
• Plan, implement and maintain preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors and machines.
• Performs routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
• Install or assist in the installation of new equipment, including layout and alignment.
• Modify equipment as necessary to improve safety, quality, productivity and reliability.
• Communicate repair steps, parts ordered and estimated time to complete repairs to plant personnel.
