Job summary

Arkema Inc. in Axis, AL is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure safe, reliable operation of plant equipment. The role performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards.

The position requires reading schematics, using measuring tools, and collaborating with the maintenance team. On-call support and adherence to HSE policies are expected in this on-site role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years of related maintenance experience OR 2 years of college/trade school in a related field.
• Valid driver\'s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the Maintenance Department multi-craft workforce.
• Attend daily maintenance execution meetings and safety toolbox discussions.
• Complete assigned work orders and maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production equipment.
• Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, operation manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Diagnose equipment issues using observation, testing instruments, and precision measuring tools.
• Remove and replace defective components using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, rules, and other measuring devices.
• Adjust and align equipment using hand tools and precision instruments.
• Minimize downtime by communicating equipment issues and monitoring performance.
• Fabricate repair parts using shop equipment and tools.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment while following all HSE requirements.
• Participate in incident investigations, job hazard analyses, audits, and corrective action activities.
• Provide after-hours and on-call support as needed.
