Job summary

Hoover Treated Wood Products, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain all machinery and equipment in working order while ensuring environmental and safety compliance. The role covers mechanical and electrical systems and requires hands-on problem solving.

You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to downtime, complete work orders, and support safety programs in a manufacturing environment. This is an on-site, hourly position in Thomson, GA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance (2 years minimum).
• Ability to perform cutting, grinding and welding activities.
• Willingness to learn the treating plant operation.
• Knowledge of bearings, motors, gear boxes, hydraulic systems, sprockets, pumps, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to identify worn parts and knowledge of replacements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfort with Windows-based programs, word processing, email, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report unsafe or non-compliant activities.
• Maintain mechanical equipment to remain operational including pumps, valves, conveyors, and hydraulic units.
• Maintain electrical equipment including breaker boxes, power supplies, sensors, and lighting.
• Complete work orders for issues with equipment.
• Prompt response to operational downtime.
• Maintain preventative maintenance programs with accurate records.
• Install new equipment and run electrical wiring or piping as directed.
• Keep the shop area clean and compliant with safety programs.
• Troubleshoot operational problems and work with engineers as directed.
• Proactively detect and repair potential issues using PM and inspection tools.
• Attend training sessions and safety meetings.
