Job summary

Smurfit Westrock, a leader in sustainable packaging, is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Winston-Salem manufacturing facility. The role focuses on maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, diagnosing issues, and restoring operations to minimize downtime on a fast-paced line.

The ideal candidate has mechanical maintenance experience in industrial settings, knowledge of electrical components, and is able to read mechanical drawings, operate PLCs, and document daily

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Experience with PLC programming and computer operation.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Overtime may be required and safety regulations must be followed.
• Drug screening after conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
• Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools.
• Inspect systems for hazards and compliance with codes.
• Repair mechanical or electrical components and systems.
• Calibrate or adjust electronic equipment to specifications.
• Welding of structural steel assemblies and machine components.
• Fabrication of brackets and guards; basic machining as needed.
• Understand mechanical drawings to determine parts and repair needs.
• Document daily activity and parts requests with computer software.
• Train employees in the Industrial Technician role; provide guidance.
• Respond to emergencies during non-standard hours.
• Maintain overall safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
• Overtime is required.
