Job summary

Banker Steel Company LLC in Lynchburg, VA is seeking an Electrical and Mechanical Technician to join our maintenance team. This hands-on role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills, the ability to diagnose faults, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.

You will read wiring diagrams and schematics, interpret blueprints, and work with a team to minimize downtime while adhering to safety policies. The position is on-site with a flexible schedule as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance with mechanical systems.
• Ability to diagnose faults and repair equipment.
• Understanding of 3 phase electricity and components.
• Interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Effective communication with coworkers at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and adheres to all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Maintain and repair maintenance shop equipment.
• Maintain and organize shop areas to include tools and parts.
• Assist in monitoring spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment; initiates reordering when necessary.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and review plant equipment to minimize downtime and identify improvements.
• Clean and maintain work area.
• Perform diversified duties to install and maintain plant equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment as required.
• Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Perform electrical skills including, but not limited to, 480V 3 phase, industrial and residential electrical, and AC/DC electronic component troubleshooting and repair.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust as required.
• Use hand and power tools, multimeters, and material handling equipment.
• Detect faulty operations or defective material and report to Maintenance Manager.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.
