Qualifications

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and food safety practices is preferred.
  • Ability to work 3rd shift and lift up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Read and follow blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Respond to line stoppage calls and provide timely repairs.
  • Conduct OSHA oven safety inspections as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in the maintenance shop.

Position Overview:

Lewis Bakeries, Inc. is looking for 3rd shift Maintenance Technicians for the Evansville, IN plant. This position ensures continuous safe operations of production machinery and facility infrastructure. Key responsibilities include executing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and ensuring compliance with food safety (GMPS) and safety (OSHA) regulations to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform privative maintenance tasks to inspect, observe, lubricate, adjust, and analyze equipment operation for needed repair or replacement. Perform OSHA oven safety inspection as assigned.
  • Able to work from blueprints, diagrams, specifications, sketches, and verbal orders. He/she is responsible to install, transfer, move, set-up, operate, and test machines. Use standard mechanical tools, power tools, electrical controls, and measuring devices.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, and preventative maintenance reports. Prepare specific and accurate parts request forms.
  • Respond to maintenance and line stoppage calls and prepared to provide emergency request forms.
  • Follow company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and conditions for employee and other employees. Responsible for preventing loss or injury due to improper or unsafe operation of equipment. Responsible to follow lock out and tag out procedures, as well as specific duties dealing with confined spaces and hazardous material.
  • Recommend and collaborate with management personnel in decisions related to breakdown options. Recommend cost saving ideas to supervisor.
  • Provide technical assistance and information to other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area within the maintenance shop at each work site where jobs are performed.
  • Perform duties in all areas within the maintenance department.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Secondary education college, trade school, etc. highly preferred but not required
  • 1-3 years of maintenance work experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Must have proven experience with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical, Conveyors, Refrigeration, Boilers, Electronics, Blueprints, Troubleshooting, and Repairing Equipment
  • In-depth knowledge in preventative maintenance procedures
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations and maintain a high state of safety awareness
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and able to contribute to team effort
  • Personal tools required
  • Physical Requirements: Ability of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, bending, twisting, talking, seeing, and hearing. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, use of hands to hold or operate objects, tools or controls. Able to climb ladders/stairs and twist body if necessary. Able to lift, push, or pull up to 20 - 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak as well as perform simple arithmetic
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely manner
  • Work Schedule: Able to work 5 days a week and 8-10 hour shifts. Able to work overtime if an occasional 6th day is needed. Off days during the week and weekends are rotated within the maintenance department
  • Maintenance Technician Levels 1 - 4, level is dependent on experience, education, training, etc.

Pay-Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly), Level 1 - 4 pay ranges from $28.10 - $34.10/hour
