Job summary

Carter Lumber Company seeks an Industrial Maintenance Technician to maintain a clean, functional facility and perform daily repairs, emergency and preventative maintenance.

You will inspect all machinery to ensure safety functions are working properly and support uptime across operations. The role requires electrical, welding, hydraulics/pneumatics, and mechanical skills, plus the ability to read schematics and manuals. Teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production machinery.
• Must be able to work on-site.
• Self-starter capable of working unsupervised.
• Industrial maintenance knowledge including electrical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work at a fast pace and multi-task.
• Friendly, outgoing personality; works well with others.
• Able to carry 25–50 lbs.
• Strong computer skills.
• 2nd shift position.

Responsibilities

• Facility Maintenance: Ensure facilities, buildings and assets are maintained and repaired cost-effectively.
• Makes recommendations on maintenance and improvements.
• Prioritizes and sets goals based on project importance.
• Industrial Equipment Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including servos, limit switches, PLCs, sensors, motors, and basic machine controls.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all production machinery to minimize downtime.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems such as conveyors, saws, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
• Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate service records.
• Recommend and maintain inventory of critical spare parts to ensure continuous operation.
• Safety: Adheres to safety requirements when operating tools and equipment.
• Ensures safety functions on equipment are operating properly.
• Handles material safely and appropriately.
• Reports any defects or safety issues immediately.
