Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to keep our facilities clean, functional, and safe. You will perform daily repairs, emergency and preventative maintenance, and inspect machinery to ensure safety functions work properly.

The role requires hands-on experience with industrial production machinery, electrical troubleshooting, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and reading schematics/drawings. On-site, 2nd shift, strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production machinery.
• Ability to work on-site and unsupervised.
• Experience in industrial maintenance: electrical, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and manuals.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Capable of working at a fast pace and multi-tasking.
• Friendly, outgoing, team player.
• Able to carry 25-50 lbs.
• Strong computer skills.
• 2nd shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facilities, buildings and assets cost-effectively.
• Prioritize maintenance goals based on project importance.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including servos, PLCs, sensors, and motors.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production machinery.
• Inspect and repair conveyors, saws, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulics/pneumatics.
• Document maintenance activities and maintain service records.
• Maintain inventory of critical spare parts.
• Ensure safety procedures and equipment safety functions are in good order.

A Carter Lumber Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, functional facility while performing daily repairs, emergency and preventative maintenance. Inspects all machinery to ensure safety functions are working properly. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements

• Preferred hands‑on experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production machinery


• Must be able to work on-site


• Must be a self-starter and able to work unsupervised


• Knowledge and experience in industrial maintenance, including electrical troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems


• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals


• Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills


• Must be able to work at a fast pace and successfully multi-task


• Friendly, outgoing personality; works well with others


• Ability to carry 25-50lbs

Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

• Ensure that all facilities, buildings and assets that are used by the company are maintained and repaired in a proper and cost-effective manner.


• Makes recommendations on maintenance and improvements.


• Prioritizes and sets goals based on importance of project that needs attention.

Industrial Equipment Maintenance

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including servos, limit switches, PLCs, sensors, motors, and basic machine controls


• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all production machinery to minimize downtime


• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems such as conveyors, saws, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic components


• Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate service records


• Recommend and maintain inventory of critical spare parts to ensure continuous operation

Safety

• Adheres to safety requirements when operating tools and equipment.


• Ensures safety functions on equipment are operating properly.


• Handles material in a safe and appropriate manner.


• Reports any defects or safety issues immediately.
