The Robotic Cell Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of palletizing robots, case conveyors (Robotic Cell), and other material handling equipment within the facility. Responsibilities include routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to maximize system uptime.

This position will be working at a customer site in Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198 for a fixed duration of 1 year (as a permanent Bastian Solutions employee). Afterward, the employee will transition into a new role with potential for at least 50% travel, remaining an employee of Bastian Solutions.

Job Functions:

1. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on Robotic Cell components, including robots, conveyors, electrical, and control systems.
2. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues affecting Robotic Cell functionality.
3. Perform corrective maintenance to restore system performance promptly.
4. Collaborate with vendors and service providers for repairs and parts replacement.
5. Maintain conveyors and other material handling equipment through scheduled inspections and repairs.
6. Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues impacting performance.
7. Replace faulty components and perform adjustments to ensure optimal operation.
8. Follow all safety protocols during maintenance activities.
9. Keep updated on industry best practices and regulations related to Robotic Cell and material handling systems.
10. Ensure compliance with safety standards and local regulations.
11. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and generate performance reports.
12. Communicate system status and needs to supervisors.
13. Identify opportunities for process improvements and system upgrades.
14. Stay informed about emerging robotics and material handling technologies.
15. Provide training to team members on system operation and troubleshooting.

Travel Requirements

• Less than 5% overnight travel, with expenses paid by Bastian Solutions.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in automation or robotics are a plus.
• Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting material handling equipment.
• Robotic Cell maintenance experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency with voltmeters and electrical troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to automation and handling systems.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Good communication skills for reporting and documentation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs).
• Comfort with working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work in environments with noise, dust, and temperature changes.
