Industrial Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and optimizing production equipment to ensure smooth manufacturing operations. This position involves hands-on work in a fast-paced environment, requiring frequent movement throughout the facility-including production areas and occasional outdoor spaces-as well as regular lifting and handling of tools, parts, and equipment (ranging from 10 to 50+ lbs, and occasionally heavier).

Working collaboratively within a manufacturing team, the technician will be responsible for diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, and improving system performance while adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Technicians must be comfortable operating personal computers, industrial control systems, power tools, forklifts, and elevated platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical maintenance on a wide range of production and auxiliary equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machinery issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks that often involve physical maneuvering of heavy equipment and tools.
  • Maintain compliance with Quality System procedures and maintenance documentation.
  • Monitor machine performance and assist in developing strategies for equipment longevity.

Control Systems & Automation

  • Install and optimize electrical control systems used in facility operations.
  • Read and interpret schematics and PLC ladder logic diagrams.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC systems to improve automation and system reliability.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in capital projects and machine modifications, including the physical setup and integration of control systems.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and tools that can reduce downtime and enhance safety.
  • Complete corrective and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
  • Engage in initiatives to improve equipment efficiency and workplace ergonomics.

Safety & Compliance

  • Consistently follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and internal safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all tasks, including those involving heavy lifting and equipment handling, are performed with proper safety measures.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma with at least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, OR
  • Associate Degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or a related discipline.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills, including schematic reading.
  • Experience with electronic test tools, soldering, welding, and use of hand/power tools.
  • Comfortable working at heights and operating forklifts or elevated work platforms.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting items over 50 lbs when necessary.
