Job summary

WITRON in Hempstead, TX seeks an Industrial Maintenance Technician to maintain a high-speed automated material handling system in a fast-paced distribution center. The role emphasizes safety, system performance, and broad electrical/mechanical tasks.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in related roles (5+ preferred), strong PLC/inverter knowledge, and the ability to work with drive technology. Training is provided; travel and relocation considerations are part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 1–2 years in electrical and/or mechanical role required; 5+ years preferred.
• Strong electrical (3-Phase, 480V, DC, 24V) and mechanical skills.
• Familiarity with drive tech (motors/gears) and PLC/inverters.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform electrical measurements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state-of-the-art automated material handling system with safety focus.
• Enhance system performance and minimize downtime through preventive maintenance.
• Perform electrical and mechanical tasks with minimal supervision.
• Assist production with fault correction, coaching, and troubleshooting.

Are you a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician ready to take on the challenge of maintaining a state-of-the-art automated material handling system in a fast-paced distribution center? We are looking for a dedicated professional who prioritizes safety, thrives on maximizing system performance, and excels in both electrical and mechanical tasks.

Pay ranges between $28.00-$35.00 per hour

As an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you will:

• Approach all tasks and situations with a safety-first mindset, ensuring the well-being of yourself and your team.
• Enhance system performance and minimize downtime through effective maintenance activities.
• Engage in a wide range of electrical and mechanical tasks with minimal supervision.
• Assist the production team with basic fault correction, coaching, and troubleshooting.
• Aid in the installation of new components or the refurbishment of existing system components.
• Drive continuous improvement activities through comprehensive system knowledge and site-specific enhancements.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in industrial technology or related field, preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in a relevant electrical and/or mechanical role required, five (5) years plus preferred.
• Strong skills in electrical (3-Phase, 480V, DC, and 24V controls) and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with electrics/mechanics in drive technology (motors/gears).
• Knowledge of control technology (PLC/controls/inverters).
• Understanding of wiring diagrams and electrical measuring techniques.
• Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and proprietary system monitoring programs.
• Experience maintaining material handling systems in a light industry or distribution center environment is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Continuous walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and standing.
• Working at heights of up to 80-100 feet while wearing fall-arrest gear and other PPE.
• Lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
