Industrial Maintenance Technician - Job Description

We are a full-service supplier, from design to extrusion to fabrication, all under one roof. We are committed to investing in people, technology, and building customer relationships. We are looking for an Industrial Maintenance Technician at our Hamden CT facility to support our manufacturing operations and maintain our facility and its systems. This is a Steel Workers Union position.

This position reports to the Director of Facility Operations at our Hamden CT building. Standard work hours are 6:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime on Fridays. Occasionally, work may be required outside of these hours, including through lunch and breaks, to ensure machines are operational. The maintenance team is also responsible for maintaining the exterior of the building and all company land and property.

This is a union hourly position with overtime, covered by the Steelworkers Union contract. Benefits are available and can be discussed during the interview process.

Required Experience:

• Programmable logic controllers: 1 year

Job Responsibilities:

1. Install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance.
2. Identify problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
3. Dismantle machinery and replace defective parts.
4. Inspect and measure parts to determine requirements for replacements.
5. Utilize knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, pneumatics, electrical systems (24V–480V), welding (stick, TIG, MIG), and PLC systems.
6. Work with overhead cranes and operate forklifts or side loaders; experience is a plus.
7. Work at heights using ladders or scissor lifts.
8. Respond to after-hours calls for boiler or emergency facility issues.
9. Maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
10. Train production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
11. Provide maintenance information and attend meetings with supervisors and management.
12. Prepare reports by analyzing and summarizing maintenance data and trends.
13. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with safety regulations.
14. Work in various environments, including hot, cold, wet, or confined spaces, and handle chemicals as necessary.
15. Operate machinery and technical equipment.
16. Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
17. Work overtime on short notice, including weekends as needed.
18. Possess a strong mechanical aptitude with training or experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

All levels of experience in building and facilities maintenance will be considered; relevant schooling, certifications, or training are advantageous.
