Job description

Position Summary

Steel Forgings Inc. (SFI) is a leading manufacturer of custom butt weld fittings, serving the oil and gas industry for over 70 years.

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician will perform hands-on machinery maintenance and collaborate with a team of maintenance technicians responsible for machine and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and facilities upkeep at a manufacturing plant located in the Shreveport/Bossier City, LA area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform senior-level mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment.
2. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures effectively and efficiently.
3. Read and understand mechanical drawings and hydraulic/electric schematics.
4. Interpret equipment manuals and blueprints.
5. Perform root cause analysis on mechanical and electrical equipment failures.
6. Ensure operation of all machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on production machines, motors, equipment, and tools.
7. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with plant supervisors.
8. Communicate plant equipment repair/operational status to maintenance manager.
9. Operate tools and equipment safely during repair and servicing of equipment.

Experience:

1. 5-10+ years of machinery maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
2. Strong mechanical, industrial, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Failure analysis and troubleshooting skills for manufacturing and facility equipment.
5. Ability to work from blueprints/drawings.
6. Knowledge of single and three-phase electrical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, including air compressors.
7. Organizational skills for parts management, equipment files, and time management.
8. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing, and other active movements.
2. Able to lift 50 pounds.
3. Perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
4. Work in environments that may include hot temperatures and dust.
