Job summary

Steel and Metal Systems, Inc. in Blackshear, GA is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance and repairs for metal manufacturing equipment and facilities, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

You will inspect equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, repair machines, read blueprints, perform welding when needed, and help plan preventive maintenance with management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 3 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Some vocational college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and identify equipment in need of repair.
• Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs and causes of breakdowns.
• Repair machines quickly and efficiently.
• Plan repair work using blueprints or manuals.
• Perform welding as necessary for maintenance repairs.
• Lubricate and maintain machines and parts.
• Prepare reports documenting work performed.
• Coordinate with managers to schedule preventative maintenance.
• Collaborate with manager on new machines and modifications.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
