Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is the go-to leader in sustainable packaging, dedicated to scalable paper and packaging solutions. We seek an Industrial Maintenance Technician to install, repair and maintain processing equipment and facilities at our Atlanta plant.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting motors and hydraulics, and safely operating rolling stock and tools. Requires high school diploma/GED, heavy equipment experience, and ability to pass background and drug screens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is strongly preferred.
• Industrial maintenance or heavy equipment experience required.
• Capable of operating hand, power and specialty tools.
• Advanced understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics.
• Basic understanding of electrical system.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Team player and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Able to perform hot work (welding, cutting, brazing, grinding).
• Must read/interpret safety rules, procedures, and equipment manuals.
• Must operate various pieces of mobile equipment.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• Maintain good attendance.
• Perform all essential job functions with/without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Smurfit Westrock safety rules.
• Follow OSHA regulations.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to PM system and manufacturer’s specs.
• Troubleshoot and maintain motors, conveyors, electrical systems (if qualified), pneumatic tools and hydraulics.
• Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
• Repair and maintain rolling stock and facilities.
• Safely operate rolling stock, power tools and hand tools.
• Attend daily shift meetings to prioritize tasks and minimize downtime.
• Participate in plant safety program and Safety Committee.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
• Perform other job duties as needed.
