Job Summary
Engineering Operator 3 (Maintenance Tech) – Responsible for full range of maintenance and engineering assignments using independent judgment to make decisions based on procedures and specific situations.
Location & Work Arrangements
1969 Victory Dr, Columbus, GA 31901 (Hostess Manufacturing Facility). 100% on-site. 1st Shift (6am-6pm) or 2nd Shift (6pm-6am) – flexibility to support off‑shifts or weekends when required.
Compensation & Benefits

Key Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment (motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines) in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to troubleshoot and repair fluid and flow systems.
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
- Install special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools.
- Start devices to test performance and lubricate and clean parts.
- Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
- Requisition supplies, materials, tools, machine parts, and other necessary equipment.
- Repair electrical equipment and ensure proper use, care, and storage of tools and equipment.
- Perform bearing analysis and installation.
- Weld various types of metal to repair or fabricate metal assemblies (e.g., racks, shelves, stands for equipment) using appropriate welding and grinding tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance on uninterrupted power supply systems, generators, and air compressors to ensure continuous power and air supply to critical facilities, equipment, and systems.
- Analyze electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings, and troubleshoot circuits to component level.
- Install, troubleshoot, modify, calibrate, and adjust electrical/electronic system components and circuits used in measurement and control of current, voltage, temperature, humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, tension, flow, time, frequency, thickness, and density.
- Apply operating principles and design limitations of power distribution system components, including testing, repair, replacement, adjustment, calibration, and cleaning.
- Perform other duties as defined.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently; may push and pull heavy trash carts and portable equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Previous safety experience, including LOTO.
- Knowledge of electrical components (high/low voltage, motors).
- Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical schematics.
Additional skills and preferences:
- Post‑secondary education in industrial engineering or related field – technical or vocational training.
- Industrial electricity courses, welding, PLC, pneumatic or other mechanical courses.
- OSHA 10‑ and 30‑hour training.
