Job summary

Wasserstrom, a national leader in foodservice equipment manufacturing and distribution, is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician (Dayshift) to join our Columbus facility. You will maintain, repair, and optimize equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and support safety and reliability on the shop floor.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED, with hands-on skills reading blueprints and electrical schematics, using multimeters, calipers,

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and routine service on manufacturing equipment, machinery, tools, and facility systems; document all work orders in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and complete timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime across the facility; respond to maintenance requests, document completed work in the CMMS, and communicate repair concerns to management
  • Support equipment installation, setup, movement, and outside repair coordination; maintain work areas, tools, parts, and supplies in a clean, organized, and safe condition; follow required safety procedures and perform other tasks to support operations as needed

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and general upkeep activities for manufacturing equipment, machinery, tools, and facilities. Troubleshoots mechanical issues, completes preventive maintenance, and supports equipment reliability and safe operation. Uses basic hand and power tools to diagnose, adjust, repair, and replace components as needed. Works with management and team members to identify repair needs, communicate issues, and support timely completion of maintenance tasks. Assists with maintaining supplies, materials, and a clean, safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and routine service on manufacturing equipment, machinery, tools, and facility systems; document all work orders in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and complete timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime across the facility; respond to maintenance requests, document completed work in the CMMS, and communicate repair concerns to management
    • Examples include, but are not limited to:
      Electrical Repair: Troubleshoot 480V 3-phase power distribution, AC/DC motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, and switches
    • Automation Support: Read ladder logic to diagnose programmable logic controller (PLC) issues and replace faulty sensors or I/O cards
    • Mechanical Repair: Rebuild and align gearboxes, pumps, compressors, conveyors, sprockets, and high-speed bearings
    • Fluid Power: Repair hydraulic valves, cylinders, and pneumatic systems, including tracing leaks and replacing seals
  • Support equipment installation, setup, movement, and outside repair coordination; maintain work areas, tools, parts, and supplies in a clean, organized, and safe condition; follow required safety procedures and perform other tasks to support operations as needed

Minimum Experience and Education:

  • High School or GED
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training

Position Requirements:

  • Prior industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is a plus
  • Intermediate computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance processes and procedures
  • Mechanically inclined; proficient with digital multimeters, precision alignment tools, calipers, indicators, and standard hand/power tools
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and fluid power diagrams
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16th of an inch
  • Ability to add and subtract fractions
  • Communicates well with others; asks for and offers help when needed
  • Detail oriented; meets quality standards and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Organized; completes work in a timely manner; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solver; gathers and analyzes information skillfully and generates suggestions for improving work
  • Capable of working independently and as a member of a team; contributes to building a positive team spirit
  • Observes and follows safety procedures

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Manufacturing Environment – may cause exposure to heat, noise, vibration, odors, dust or moving mechanical parts
  • Medium to Heavy Work – requires the ability to exert up to 100 lbs. with team or mechanical assistance, requires the ability to individually exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 35 lbs. of force frequently, and/or exert up to 15 lbs. of force constantly to lift, move, push, or pull objects and materials
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel materials and equipment
  • Frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms
  • Required to walk, see close and at distance, and talk and hear
