Job summary
PPG Barberton/Norton, OH is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for the Norton facility. Starting pay is $34.80/hour with a $1000 sign-on bonus and a $1000 retention bonus, plus $500 after 90 days and $500 after 180 days. 2nd shift runs 3:00 pm–11:00 pm, Mon–Fri; 3rd shift 11:00 pm–7:00 am, Sun–Thu.
Overtime as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, troubleshooting, and safety-first work.
Qualifications
- Five years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical facility.
- Certified Maintenance Apprenticeship Program or Mechanical Institute Certificate.
- Experience in pump and gearbox rebuilds.
- HVAC or Electrical experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand technical documents/manuals and CAD drawings.
Responsibilities
- Repair, modify and install equipment to maintain operation.
- Diagnose problems and replace parts in building systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on belts, piping, filters, motors and pumps.
- Work in confined spaces, at heights and on ladders.
- Troubleshoot equipment and proactively prevent failures.
- Support 5-S standards to improve efficiency, cleanliness and safety.
- Maintain records and reports as required.
- Work from technical documents, blueprints and schematics.
- Observe machines to detect malfunctions; basic welding and fabrication.
