Job summary

UPS in Fremont, CA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician to support the package sorting system, including belt conveyors. The role, also known as Plant Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic, performs a wide range of maintenance tasks to keep UPS facilities operating efficiently and safely.

The position offers full-time, permanent work with shifts from 1:00 AM–9:30 AM or 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, plus extensive benefits and advancement opportunities within a Fortune

Qualifications

• Successful completion of required testing

• Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills
• Proficient in the safe use of common shop tools and equipment
• Experience in performing maintenance on conveyor belts is an asset
• Knowledge of electrical and building schematics is an asset

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
• Troubleshooting, adjusting and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers and PLC
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps
• Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating
• Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment

Job Description: Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician position supports the package sorting system, including belt conveyors. In our industry this position is also known as Plant Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic. This position is responsible for a broad range of maintenance activities that are performed to keep UPS package handling facilities operating efficiently and effectively. The work can be fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other operations employees.

Key Responsibilities

Expenses/Working Conditions

• Monthly union dues, approximately $113.90/month

Pay Range

For this union-represented posting, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. The starting pay rate for this position starts at $44.25/hr.
