Job summary

Johns Manville is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to install, repair and maintain machinery in an industrial environment. You will follow safety rules, read procedures, and collaborate across teams to minimize downtime.

The position requires an associate degree or equivalent (preferred) with 1–3 years of related experience or training. Candidates should be able to operate hand/power tools, handle demanding shifts and contribute to core values of People, Passion, Performance and Protection.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
• One to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance manuals
• Ability to carry out instructions in written or diagram form
• Certifications such as Welding, Lathe, Forklift may be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Be an active participant in the safety process and practice safe work habits at all times
• Inspect machinery, lubricate and perform adjustments or repairs as needed
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and repair or replace faulty parts
• Dismantle devices to access parts and fabricate repair parts as needed
• Maintain and test boilers, compressors and plant critical systems
• Layout, install and maintain pipe systems and related equipment
• Execute MRO work orders in SAP and coordinate with production

The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions, according to established operating procedures. Inspect machinery, lubricate and make adjustments or repairs as needed and take faulty equipment out of operation until repairedEffectively troubleshoot all mechanical equipment to identify issues and take necessary corrective actions to repair, replace or rebuildManage down time by coordinating with production department personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance techniquesDismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand and power toolsFabricate repair parts using shop equipment (welding equipment, cutting equipment, machine tools)Maintain and test Boiler, CO2 House, Air Compressors, and plant critical systemsLayout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, and cooling for process systemsRepair and/or replace limit switchesResponsible for execution of MRO work orders which includes entering into SAPAbility to effectively communicate mechanical issues when troubleshooting equipment/issues for internal customersRequired to respond to call ins and work the call in requestMust own tools and maintain the necessary tools and be proficient in their use and carePerforms other duties as directedWhat you bring to the team:Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school (preferred) or one-year certificate from college or technical school; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Preferred Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCertifications accepted in lieu of experienceCertificates include but not limited toMechanic license or equivalent work experienceWelding certificate or equivalent work experienceLathe certificate or equivalent work experienceForklift, Diesel Mechanic certificates or equivalent work experienceMachinist certificate or equivalent work experiencePhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. The manufacturing process involves toxic or caustic chemicals.
