POSITION PURPOSE:
Maintains production and quality by ensuring the operation of industrial machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute projects as directed by Maintenance Management and Plant Operations.
- Maintain equipment and facilities with particular attention to Food Safety including:
- Instrument calibration
- Maintenance of product contact surfaces
- Participate in Operations Food Safety Training
- Monitor food safety related instrumentation
- Work closely with Quality on development and implementation of HACCP, GMP, SQF, and other product safety programs
- Ensure operation of machinery (both electrical and mechanical) by completing preventive maintenance on equipment motors, drives, conveyor systems, and high-speed food production machines, following diagrams, manuals, and specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locate sources of problems by observing devices, listening for issues, and using testing instruments.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, using hand and power tools, and examining parts.
- Determine changes in dimensional requirements by inspecting parts with measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
- Control downtime by informing workers of preventive maintenance and monitoring compliance.
- Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintain inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, and managing orders.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Provide maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepare reports by analyzing and summarizing maintenance data and trends.
- Maintain technical knowledge through training, publications, and networking.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and needs to ensure team continuity.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following procedures and regulations.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Supply basic maintenance tools.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Equipment Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Technical Zeal, dealing with Uncertainty, Basic Safety, Power Tools, Attention to Detail, Flexibility, Supervision, Job Knowledge, Productivity.
Extensive on-the-job training. High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience preferred.
