- TITLE: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
- DATE OF JOB POSTING: June 2025
- REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
- FUNCTION: Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment in the company’s facilities. Responsible for performing, coordinating, and assisting with day-to-day operations, preventative maintenance, and projects for the Maintenance Department in all areas deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor, as defined below.
- HOURS: Full time (40 hours per week) Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, occasional overtime.
- LOCATION: Reports to Almetek Industries, Inc. at 2 Joy Dr. Hackettstown NJ 07840
- COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience, $25-$30 per hour.

JOB DUTIES:
- Coordinates and performs all mechanical repair and maintenance of production machinery including adding controls, safety/protective devices, locating/relocating equipment, and safety labeling.
- Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM). Inspects machinery for functionality and lubricates machinery in the production areas. Works with operators to make sure that machines are working properly with no issues, irregular functions, or concerns. Fills out PM records/logs for specific machinery.
- Requests repair parts and repairs machines. Keeps necessary spare parts and supplies neatly stored in maintenance shop, storge room, and chemical room.
- Coordinates and performs general upkeep of the facility systems, inside and out. Changes furnace filters, checks compressor sumps, inspects and cleans mechanical rooms, and clears snow. Works with outside contractors who service our compressors, HVAC, and other equipment.
- Work with all inside and outside facility (plumbing/building/HVAC/lighting) repairs and projects as required.
- Coordinates and assists with moving material and equipment to and from the company’s different production and storage facilities.
- Participates in and coordinates the identification, improvement, and implementation of process improvements throughout the facility.
- Participates in Safety Committee meetings and coordinates with them to resolve issues pertaining to the safety of employees, machinery, processes, and the facility.
- Coordinates and assists in all other duties deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor, Production Manager, and Plant Manager.
- Assist in the production process and other duties as required.
- This position may require more than 40 hours per week and Saturdays based on the workload.
- Be able to perform the physical aspects of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, crawling, climbing, crouching, bending, reaching, twisting, fine manipulation, exposure to loud noises/oil/fumes, hot and cold climates inside and outside.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a high level of mechanical aptitude for maintaining and repairing mechanical production machinery.
- Be able to demonstrate machinery and equipment maintenance skills.
- Be able to regularly lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. and occasionally 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Be able to perform the physical aspects of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking crawling, climbing, crouching, bending, reaching, twisting, fine manipulation. This role is exposed to loud noises, oil, fumes, hot and cold climates inside and outside the building.
- Be able to operate a forklift, Hilo.
- Be able to demonstrate technical aptitude and understanding.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently, as well as with others.
- Have a valid Driver’s License.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Be able to read, write and converse fluently in the English .
- Have a strong understanding of and willingness to comply with OSHA and or ANSI Safety Standards for LOTOTO, Machine Safeguarding, and use of PPE.
- Be able to work more than 40 hours per week, and Saturday’s based on the workload (rare).
- Be able to work successfully using clear communication. Interact professionally with all levels of staff across multiple departments.
- Be able to complete assigned tasks safely and within a reasonable time period, as set forth by the Maintenance supervisor.
- Be able to maintain a safe and clean work environment as per established policies, procedures, and guidelines. 5S knowledge is a plus.
- Be able to provide and safely use personal hand tools, including but not limited to: SAE and Metric, Wrenches, Sockets, Allen Wrenches, Hammers, Screwdrivers, Pliers, Prybars, Files, Measuring Tools.
- Be able to safely use company provided electric and pneumatic hand tools. Including but not limited to: Angle Grinder, Sawzall, Table Saw, Jig Saw, Drill, Drill Driver, Hammer Drill, Impact Gun, Shop Vac, Air Chisel, Floor Jack, Chain Hoist, Circular Saw, Table Saw, Box and Pan Brake, Metal Shear.
- Be able and willing to safely use company machine shop tools, including but not limited to: Drill Press, Belt Sander, Pedestal Grinder, Band Saw, Table Saw, Miter Saw, Pedestal Wire Wheel
- Other skills that would be a plus: Computer skills, Genie/Scissor/Man Lift operation, Welding, Milling Machine, Lathe, Surface grinder, Pipe Threading 40-100 schedule, 12 VDC to 3 phase 480 VAC Electrical skills.
