Job summary

Progress Rail in Albertville, AL, is seeking a maintenance technician to perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of shop equipment. You will help keep lathes, mills, conveyors, and hydraulic systems operational, supporting uninterrupted production.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of mechanical troubleshooting/repair experience; night shift hours and occasional weekends are possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years mechanical troubleshooting/repair experience, may consider Associates Degree in a maintenance related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lathes, mills, conveyors, overhead hoist, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatics systems, 480V 3‑phase equipment, PLC troubleshooting.
• Keep all equipment operational to ensure no production interruptions.
• Focus on continuous improvements to increase reliability and productivity of machines.
• Track equipment downtime.
• Install new equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Fill out work orders correctly.
• Operate Forklifts, Overhead cranes, and other equipment.
• Position requires lifting of 50 pounds and stamina and strength to work in tight and confined spaces.
• Can be located inside or outside and exposed to high levels of noise.

Qualifications And Experience

• Ability to work Night Shift Hours and occasionally weekend hours;
• Good understanding of electrical maintenance required;
• Must have completed understanding of work practices;
• Able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision;
• Previous machining experience preferred;
• Welding experience preferred;
• Ability to read precision gauges and instruments;
• Ability to read and understand mechanical maintenance manuals;
• Experience with AC/DC machine drives;
• Able to interact with production and scheduling supervision and machine operators.
