Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Engineering and Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of maintenance, facilities operations, and continuous improvement initiatives at our Taylor, MI facility. This role will manage a skilled team and ensure operational excellence through proactive maintenance, system reliability, and team development.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam & Operations Leadership

Supervise and lead the maintenance team, ensuring timely, efficient, and safe execution of all maintenance activities.
Plan, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
Conduct shift meetings focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping (6S).

Technical & Preventive Maintenance

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment, electrical systems, HVAC, and facilities.
Use diagnostic tools (e.g., voltmeters, ohmmeters) to identify and repair electrical problems.
Ensure all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, communications, etc.) are fully operational.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Follow spill reporting and cleanup procedures; manage hazardous and regulated waste.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all maintenance functions.

Project & Facilities Management

Manage facility operations budgets, capital improvements, and equipment purchases.
Coordinate building programs and oversee infrastructure upgrades and preventive maintenance plans.

Employee Development & Collaboration

Train, mentor, and assess team performance using the Performance Planning & Assessment (PPA) process.
Collaborate across departments to support minimal downtime and drive asset reliability.
Manage hiring, onboarding, and corrective actions in coordination with HR and operations leadership.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in facilities or maintenance management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience with heavy machinery, production lines, or related equipment.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems (high and low voltage), HVAC systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
Proficiency with CMMS software for tracking maintenance records.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

Certifications or specialized training in electrical, HVAC, or facilities management.
Experience in lean manufacturing, 6S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
