Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is hiring Maintenance Generalists to support a fast-paced plant environment. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and work with cross-functional teams to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

The role requires at least 2 years of mechanic experience or completion of an industrial maintenance training program. Candidates must be able to work various shifts, lift up to 75 lbs, and provide some or all tools as needed.

Qualifications

Shift and Pay

Shift: B shift

Pay Level Range: Pay range is from $28.05 to $40.10.

Applicants will be considered for, General Maintenance level openings. Leveling is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and team.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
• Effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Must be able and willing to furnish your own tools.

Requirements

Education and Experience: Minimum 2 years of mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program. (Can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 2 years).

Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Special Skills

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Communication Skills: Effective communication and basic math skills required.

Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently.

Ability to stand on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.

Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend, and stoop.

Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.

Frequent overhead work.

Temperatures inside the plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed.

Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
