Job summary

Commercial Metals is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Helper in Ashland, VA. You will assist maintenance staff, support safety programs, and help keep equipment running smoothly in a fast-paced plant environment.

You should be reliable, able to lift up to 50 lbs, multitask, and adapt to rotating shifts. A High School diploma or GED is required, with training provided to grow your skills.

Qualifications

• Team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in extremes (temperature, dust, noise, height, confined spaces).
• Basic computer skills.
• Dependability and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Able to learn quickly and multitask.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Some overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance personnel when requested.
• Participate in CMC safety programs and uphold safety culture.
• Communicate production issues clearly.
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are completed each shift.
• Perform minor maintenance or repairs as needed without maintenance staff.
• Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures.
• Daily housekeeping in the work area.
• Troubleshoot problems using knowledge and teamwork.
• Understand start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
