Job summary

Austin Industries, Inc. in Decatur, IL seeks a General Laborer to perform a variety of labor-intensive tasks in an industrial setting under supervision.

You may operate hand and power tools, prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. Specific duties include shoveling asphalt, patching with hot and cold mix, maintaining a clean site, handling materials, and following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in an industrial setting preferred.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
• Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) or other material into construction area.
• Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site: secure tools and equipment daily to eliminate hazards.
• Material handling and storage; load and unload trucks and haul materials.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed and report issues to Foreman or Safety personnel.
• Operate and use equipment and tools properly and safely as needed.
• Communicate effectively, follow written and oral instructions, and meet attendance schedules.
