Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Manufacturing IT Systems & Software Engineer to support and improve manufacturing IT systems on-site in a fast-paced environment. You will work with factory staff, engineers, and other personnel to maintain Linux-based applications, databases, and datacenter assets.

Strong scripting, database, and PLC/SCADA integration experience are valued. The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years in programming or Linux; associate or bachelor’s preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of programming and Linux systems experience considered strongly.
• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Linux OS desirable; working knowledge of Linux, MacOS and Windows required.
• Exposure to MariaDB/MySQL desirable.
• Willingness to adapt, change tasks, and self-manage within a small team.

Responsibilities

• Regularly interface with workforce for direction, expectations, and feedback.
• Support, maintain, and improve applications built in Bash, PHP, Python, JavaScript, Xcode, SQL, and other languages.
• Maintain manufacturing datacenter assets and architecture, including servers, NAS with ZFS and Ceph.
• Manage backups and DR methodologies for manufacturing connectivity.
• Integrate MFG Datacenter with PLC assets of the factory.
• Document all processes and assets.
• Provide analysis and resolution for hardware and software problems.
• Daily on-site attendance is required.
