Job summary

BrandSafway is seeking an Industrial Insulation Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for industrial piping, equipment, and ductwork insulation projects across the Carolinas. You will review bid packages, read piping isometrics, perform detailed takeoffs, and develop complete labor and material pricing in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

The role requires independent review of bid packages, strong detail orientation, and proficiency with FastWRAP and Bluebeam Revu,

Qualifications

• Experience estimating industrial mechanical insulation, including both piping and ductwork.
• Demonstrated ability to independently read and quantify work from piping isometric drawings, plan drawings, sections, and details.
• Proficiency with FastWRAP and/or Bluebeam Revu for estimating or digital takeoffs.
• Working knowledge of common insulation systems, including fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, cellular glass, and elastomeric insulation, along with aluminum and stainless-steel jacketing, ASJ finishes, and vapor-retarder systems.
• Understanding of industrial insulation installation methods and the field conditions that affect labor productivity.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for industrial pipe insulation, equipment insulation, and rectangular and round ductwork insulation, including new construction, maintenance, repairs, and retrofit projects.
• Read and interpret piping ISOs, mechanical plans, equipment details, insulation schedules, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope and installation requirements.
• Perform detailed takeoffs using FastWRAP and/or Bluebeam Revu, including pipe lengths and sizes, fittings, valves, flanges, equipment surface areas, and ductwork square footage.
• Identify required insulation materials, thicknesses, vapor barriers, jacketing, finishes, and accessories based on project specifications and service conditions.
• Develop labor estimates that account for installation productivity, elevation, congestion, operating facilities, access restrictions, work schedules, and project phasing.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes, including material availability, freight, lead times, and scope coverage.
• Include applicable project costs such as supervision, mobilization, equipment, scaffolding or lift access, travel, per diem, consumables, and waste.
• Prepare clear proposals with defined scope, pricing, assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications for lump-sum, unit-price, and time-and-material work.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks to verify conditions, identify scope gaps, and evaluate installation challenges.
• Review drawing revisions and addenda, prepare requests for information, and update estimates as requirements change.
• Coordinate with sales and operations to confirm project approach, manpower assumptions, schedule requirements, and bid strategy.
• Support project turnover by providing organized takeoffs, material quantities, estimated labor hours, vendor quotes, and documented assumptions.
• Assist with change-order pricing and compare estimated costs against actual project results to improve future estimates.
• Maintain organized estimating records and meet proposal deadlines while managing multiple opportunities.

Position Summary

BrandSafway is seeking an Industrial Insulation Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for industrial piping, equipment, and ductwork insulation projects throughout the Carolinas. This position requires the ability to independently review bid packages, read piping isometric drawings (ISOs) and construction plans, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, and develop complete labor and material pricing.

The estimator will work closely with sales, project management, and field leadership to ensure proposals reflect customer requirements, actual installation conditions, and branch profitability goals.

• Ability to participate in site visits and follow customer and company safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of industrial insulation estimating experience.
• Previous field experience as an insulator, metal mechanic, foreman, or project manager.
• Experience with both FastWRAP and Bluebeam Revu.
• Experience estimating work in manufacturing plants, chemical facilities, power generation facilities, or other operating industrial environments.
• Familiarity with insulation removal and replacement, shutdowns and turnarounds, and coordination with scaffolding and other trades.

Produces timely, complete estimates with clearly documented quantities, realistic labor assumptions, and minimal scope gaps. Communicates effectively with sales and operations, supports a smooth transition from bid to execution, and uses project feedback to improve estimating accuracy and profitability.
