Industrial Installation Technician

Location: On-site in Rock Island, IL with Travel

Our client is an established industrial equipment manufacturer seeking an Industrial Installation Technician to become a trusted field representative for customers across the country. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with industrial machinery, solving practical problems, traveling to customer facilities, and seeing an installation through from setup to successful handoff. Just as important as technical aptitude is the ability to communicate confidently, teach operators and maintenance teams, and leave customers feeling well supported. The organization provides hands-on product training before technicians begin handling assignments independently.

Focus:

• Install and commission industrial positioning equipment at customer manufacturing facilities, including setup, leveling, alignment, testing, and verification of proper operation.


• Independently manage field assignments while collaborating with additional technicians on larger or more complex installations.


• Serve as a trusted customer-facing resource, communicating professionally with plant personnel and addressing questions throughout installation and startup.


• Train operators and maintenance teams on equipment operation, routine care, preventive maintenance, and practices that support long-term performance.


• Evaluate site conditions and installation requirements, coordinating with customers and internal teams to prepare for successful projects.


• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues encountered during installation, startup, testing, or field support.


• Travel approximately 75 percent of the time while supporting documentation, equipment testing, project preparation, and refurbishment activities when working from the Rock Island facility.

Skill Set:

• Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience installing, starting up, servicing, maintaining, or troubleshooting industrial or manufacturing equipment.


• Ability to work independently at customer facilities and make sound decisions in field environments.


• Strong communication and teaching skills, with the confidence to explain equipment operation and maintenance to customers.


• Customer-service mindset and the professionalism to represent an industrial equipment manufacturer effectively on-site.


• Mechanical troubleshooting capabilities, with electrical and hydraulic experience strongly preferred.


• Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic drawings or schematics and apply preventive maintenance principles.


• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel approximately 75 percent of the time, including overnight and occasional air travel. Ability to obtain a passport for occasional international assignments as needed.


• High school diploma or GED required. Previous field service, industrial installation, maintenance, or related technical experience preferred.
