Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. seeks an Industrial Hygienist / Environmental Professional in Eugene, OR to lead indoor environmental quality projects and field investigations.

You will collect air, moisture, and material samples, support building assessments, and help develop actionable recommendations for clients. The role requires a background in industrial hygiene or related fields, 2+ years of experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel regionally while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Building Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, indoor air quality, or building assessments.
• Familiarity with OSHA/EPA/NIOSH regulations and state/local requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication; meticulous in documenting field observations.

Responsibilities

• Support building assessments and IEQ projects focusing on occupant health.
• Conduct field investigations and environmental sampling related to indoor air quality and moisture.
• Assist with assessments to identify hazards and recommend steps.
• Collect air, bulk, surface wipe samples using established protocols.
• Review field data and laboratory results; prepare recommendations and actions.
• Prepare technical reports, field documentation, and client deliverables.
• Coordinate with clients, laboratories, and project teams; communicate findings professionally.

Apex is seeking an Industrial Hygienist / Environmental Professional to be based in Eugene, OR.

Your Responsibilities as an Industrial Hygienist / Environmental Professional:

• Support building assessments and environmental health projects focused on indoor environmental quality and occupant health.
• Conduct field investigations and environmental sampling related to indoor air quality, moisture, mold, building materials, and other potential environmental concerns.
• Assist with assessments of buildings and facilities to identify potential environmental hazards and recommend appropriate next steps.
• Collect air, bulk, surface wipe, and other environmental samples using established protocols and procedures.
• Perform visual inspections and document building conditions, including moisture intrusion, water damage, ventilation concerns, and other potential sources of exposure.
• Assist with asbestos, lead, hazardous materials, and other building-related environmental assessments as needed.
• Review field data and laboratory results and assist with preparing recommendations and corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports, field documentation, sampling reports, and other client deliverables.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination with clients, contractors, laboratories, and other project team members.
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors and project teams regarding field activities, findings, and project needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including industrial hygienists, environmental scientists, engineers, safety professionals, facility managers, and contractors.
• Follow established safety procedures and industry standards while performing field work.
• Continue developing technical knowledge related to industrial hygiene, indoor environmental quality, building science, and applicable regulations.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Building Science, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, indoor air quality, building assessments, or a related field preferred. Relevant internship or field experience will be considered.
• Experience or coursework related to indoor air quality, environmental sampling, building assessments, moisture/mold investigations, asbestos, lead, or hazardous materials is preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, and applicable state and local regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field observations and findings.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to perform field work and travel locally or regionally as project needs require.
• Comfortable working in a variety of building environments, including commercial, educational, industrial, and institutional facilities.
• Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of safe work practices.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn standard environmental data management and reporting tools.
