Job summary

Clarios, LLC in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist to lead and advance our health and safety programs at the plant, onsite five days a week with quarterly travel to support Tampa. You will monitor exposures, implement IH standards, and partner with EHS, HR, and leadership to reduce occupational risks.

The role requires a Bachelor's in IH/Safety or related field with 3+ years in industrial hygiene, knowledge of OSHA/ACGIH, and manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Chemistry or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial hygiene role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience with OSHA, ACGIH, or other equivalent international organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives for the health and safety of the workforce by monitoring and evaluating industrial hygiene programs.
  • Implement an effective industrial hygiene program to monitor employee exposure and measure effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with EHS, HR, Nursing and Plant Leadership to deploy solutions reducing occupational exposures.
  • Develop strategies to reduce health and wellness risks in the workplace.
  • Oversee testing for ventilation, lead and air, noise levels, etc.
  • Educate and train plant personnel in industrial hygiene and ventilation practices.
  • Manage PPE room and records according to standards.
  • Review operations to ensure ongoing industrial hygiene practices and compile improvement reports.

What you will doLead initiatives for the health and safety of the workforce by monitoring and evaluating industrial hygiene programs at your plant(s) to resolve and improve potential health risks, in accordance with Federal, State, Local, and Corporate requirements. This will be onsite 5 days a week at Winston . There will be travel once a quarter supporting Tampa.How you will do itImplement an effective industrial hygiene program in accordance with Federal, State, Local, and Corporate requirements, to monitor and assess employee exposure to current and potential health factors and to measure effectiveness of programs and procedures in accordance with Clarios Manufacturing System, ACGIH and other applicable IH standards.Working under the direction of the EHS Manager you will partner with the broader Health & Safety, Environmental, Nursing, HR, and Plant Leadership teams to identify and deploy solutions that reduce occupational exposures and drive positive improvements in critical industrial hygiene metrics.Develop strategies to reduce and eliminate health and wellness risks within the workplace, ranging from air filtration, ventilation, engineering controls, PPE, etc.Quarterly testing for ventilation, lead and air, noise levels, etc.Drive Clarios Best Business Practices and oversee its incorporation into the Clarios Management System.Educate and train plant hourly and salary personnel in effective industrial hygiene and ventilation practices and procedures.Lead efforts to effectively manage Legal, Governmental, and Corporate industrial hygiene records according to standards.Review all manufacturing and support operations to assure ongoing, effective industrial hygiene practices.Assess and analyze data, summarize statistics, and compile reports for improvement initiatives.Maintain current awareness of applicable International, Federal, State and local health, industrial hygiene and safety regulations.Maintain professional competency through participation in professional education and training programs and completion of any necessary requirements to maintain professional credentials.Manage PPE room and locker assignmentsWhat we look forRequiredBachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Chemistry or related field required.Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial hygiene role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies and procedures.Previous experience with OSHA, ACGIH, or other equivalent international organizations.Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies and procedures.Previous experience with OSHA, ACGIH, or other equivalent international organizations.Manufacturing experience.PreferredGraduate degree in Industrial Hygiene or Certified Industrial Hygienist, desired.Winston Salem- Assembly Plant Our Winston-Salem, North Carolina assembly plant manufactures batteries used in automotive and marine applications.
