Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to lead field surveys across projects involving IAQ, asbestos, mold, moisture intrusion, and lead-based paint. You will analyze data, produce concise reports, and collaborate with teams to meet evolving client needs in safety and hygiene.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of asbestos surveys and abatement air monitoring.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • AHERA Building Inspector certification.
  • Proficient in MS Office with technical report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scientific field investigations encompassing asbestos, mold, IAQ, moisture intrusion, and lead-based paint.
  • Execute field surveys, air monitoring and sampling, maintaining a robust field presence.
  • Provide moisture mapping and water intrusion assessments, including disaster response.
  • Perform IH worker exposure monitoring for clients and contractors.
  • Ensure project activities adhere to specific job requirements.
  • Operate IH and IAQ monitoring equipment (noise dosimeters, PID, multi-gas, CO/CO2 meters).
  • Prepare well-documented reports and communications.
  • Evaluate contractor work for occupant health, regulatory compliance, and safety.
  • Develop, maintain, implement, and supervise IH programs and services.
  • Craft technical reports interpreting data, observations, and regulations.

NV5’s experienced industrial hygienists anticipate, recognize, and evaluate exposures to all of the common workplace stressors, including chemical, physical, and biological factors. By sampling with state-of-the-art equipment and utilizing a nationwide network of American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) -certified laboratories, NV5 quickly assesses and partners with clients to address identified exposures by providing recommendations for industry-proven methods of risk mitigation and controls

As an Industrial Hygienist, you will take the lead in conducting comprehensive field surveys across a diverse range of projects, ensuring that we uphold the highest standards of safety and hygiene. You will analyze data meticulously, produce clear and concise reports, and collaborate with your colleagues to continuously adapt to and meet our clients' evolving needs. Key projects will involve conducting field surveys and providing comprehensive reports for a range of environmental assessments, including indoor air quality (IAQ), mold, moisture intrusion, asbestos, and lead-based paint.

  • Execute field surveys, air monitoring, and sampling, maintaining a robust field presence throughout project activities.
  • Provide moisture mapping and water intrusion assessments, particularly in disaster response scenarios.
  • Perform Industrial Hygiene (IH) worker exposure monitoring for clients and contractors.
  • Ensure project activities adhere to specific job requirements.
  • Operate various IH and IAQ monitoring equipment, including noise dosimeters, photo-ionization detectors (PID), multi-gas monitors, carbon monoxide meters, carbon dioxide meters, and aerosol meters.
  • Participate in periodic meetings to discuss project activities and safety concerns.
  • Prepare well-documented written reports, correspondence, and communications.
  • Evaluate contractor work activities concerning occupant and worker health, regulatory compliance, and public safety.
  • Provide recommended engineering controls to project personnel.
  • Independently develop, maintain, implement, and supervise IH programs and services.
  • Craft technical reports based on the interpretation of complex data, observations, and current regulations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses:
  • 1-3 years of experience in asbestos surveys and abatement air monitoring.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • AHERA Building Inspector
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite with experience in writing technical reports.
Desired Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses:
  • CIEC certification or similar preferred.
  • Contractor Supervisor certifications
  • Florida MRSA license and/or experience conducting moisture and mold investigations.
  • EPA Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor preferred.
  • NIOSH 582 certified PCM microscopist.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily limited to the southeastern US, with periodic additional travel
  • Travel 80% Monday- Friday and frequent overnight travel is required but is generally short-term (2-5 days). Longer trips may be requested.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and lift weights up to 30 pounds.
  • Periodic work in hot/humid environments.
  • Willingness to work in disaster environments (hurricane/disaster response).
  • Candidate will be subject to a baseline medical exam and a respiratory exam for a fit test.
